At about 10:46am Friday, the California Highway Patrol, Turlock Rural Fire, Turlock Fire, Denair Fire, and American Medical Response responded to a traffic collision with injuries at Golf Road and E. Harding Road.
When units arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved.
Both vehicles were only occupied by their drivers, later identified as William Keith, 27, of Modesto, and Caden Peterson, 19, of Turlock.
According to Keith’s driver’s license, she identifies as female.
Unfortunately, Keith suffered major injuries which she succumbed to at the scene. Peterson wasn’t injured.
Officers began their investigation and determined that Keith had been driving eastbound on Harding approaching Golf, while Peterson had been driving southbound on Golf approaching Harding. Keith had a stop sign, while Peterson didn’t. Keith came to a stop, but then pulled out directly into Peterson’s path, causing a broadside collision. After the collision, both vehicles proceeded in a southerly direction before coming to final rest.
“[Keith] was not wearing their seatbelt at the time of the collision,” said Officer Olsen. “The CHP would like to remind all motorists, seatbelts, when worn properly, have the ability to safe your life when involved in a traffic collision.”
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist is encouraged to call Officer Abrahamson at 209-545-7440.
