At about 12:11pm Monday, Turlock Police, the California Highway Patrol, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded to a traffic collision with injuries at Lander Avenue and W. Simmons Road.

When units arrived on scene, they found four vehicles involved. A white 2013 Ford Fusion had collided with a double-trailer truck full of tomatoes.

The driver of the white Fusion, identified as Randee Mendosa, 38, of Turlock, was unconscious and pinned in her vehicle.

Immediately after being extricated by firefighters, Mendosa was found with major injuries which she had succumbed to at the scene.

One other person suffered minor injuries and was transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital, it’s unknown if that person was a passenger in Mendosa’s vehicle or the truck’s driver.

Members of the police department’s Major Accident Investigation Team were called out to the scene to take over the investigation, resulting in the roadway being closed for several hours as they canvassed the area, gathering evidence and measurements.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist in it is encouraged to call Officer Heppner at 209-668-1200.
