On Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, at 1:23 pm, Turlock Police officers near the Safeway Fuel Station, 3100 W Monte Vista Ave, Turlock, observed a man driving a vehicle with a license plate that had been reported as lost or stolen, so they made a traffic stop on him.
The officers made contact with and identified the vehicle’s driver, Michael Mossi, 37, of Point Reyes.
When the officers had their dispatcher run Mossi, they discovered that he was on post release community supervision for possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded and operable firearm and domestic violence inflicting corporal injury.
Officers then asked Mossi’s passenger, Veronica Turpin, 59, of Castro Valley, to identify herself, and she gave someone else’s name and date of birth.
Mossi and Turpin were both removed from the vehicle and it was searched, however, nothing was found.
Officers then requested a detection canine from the Stanislaus County Probation Department and K9 Riley responded. Riley alerted to several areas within the vehicle, so an additional and more thorough search was conducted, this one leading to the discovery of narcotics, evidence of narcotics sales, and several credit cards. Also found was Turpin’s driver’s license.
When the officers had their dispatcher run Turpin, they discovered that she had a $25,000 misdemeanor warrant out of Stanislaus County for driving or taking a vehicle without the consent of its owner.
Mossi and Turpin were both arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, Mossi on the charge of violation of post release community supervision and Turpin on charges of false personation, possession of a controlled substance for sale, transporting or selling a controlled substance, identity theft, possession of methamphetamines for sale, transporting or selling methamphetamines, and forgery, as well as her warrant.
