Woman arrested after Sunday night paternal kidnapping

On Sunday, May 9th, 2021, at approximately 10:20 pm, the Turlock Police Department received a call of a kidnapping in progress in the 600 block of Geer Rd. The caller reported that Alisha Gonzalez, 26, of Turlock, had kidnapped her own juvenile child who she does not have custody of and drove off.

Officers immediately saturated the area and attempted to look for Gonzalez and the child, but were unsuccessful in their efforts. Officers began their investigation and learned that the juvenile was at a relative’s house visiting, when Gonzalez arrived and put the juvenile in the back seat of her gray Nissan Murano. Gonzalez then began driving away with the juvenile, but while doing so, another family member got in the vehicle with them. Gonzalez drove to the 4300 block of Geer Rd where she pushed the family member out of the vehicle and drove off. An officer met with that victim and summoned American Medical Response for her, but when they arrived she refused any medical attention. The officer then drove her back to the residence in the 600 block of Geer Rd.

Information of the kidnapping was broadcasted to multiple allied agencies, including the California Highway Patrol, who issued an Endangered Missing Advisory Alert. Early in the morning of Monday, May 10th, 2021, deputies with the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office located Gonzalez in her vehicle with the juvenile at the Don Pedro Reservoir. Gonzalez barricaded herself in the vehicle with the juvenile, but was later taken into custody by deputies.

The Turlock Police Department later took custody of Gonzalez from the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office and booked her into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of kidnapping, child concealment, battery, and obstructing someone from calling emergency services. A booking photo of Gonzalez was not available at the time of writing this.

The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Officer Phillip Kauffman at 209-656-3155 or by email at PKauffman@turlock.ca.us.
