On Tuesday, December 6th, 2022, at 9:33 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a security check at Lander Ave and northbound State Route 99, Turlock, after a man had approached a woman in her vehicle and told her that someone was sick underneath the overpass.

Officers arrived on scene and contacted a man who identified himself as Albert Barr, 61, of Turlock.

Barr stated that he was having chest pains, so the Turlock Fire Department and American Medical Response were dispatched.

Officers had their dispatcher run Barr and he returned with a no-bail local felony bench warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.

Barr was convicted of possession of child pornography last year after he was found to have over 600 images of victims under the age of 12 and was released sometime this year. According to the California Megan’s Law website, Barr lives at 409 Grant Ave, which is right next door to a preschool, Turlock Nursery School, at 415 Grant Ave.

American Medical Response arrived on scene and Barr made it seem like he was going to go to the hospital with them so officers left, however, they were called back out a short time later after Barr had become combative with paramedics, assaulted them, and fled the area.

Officers arrived and eventually located Barr.

Barr was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of battery, as well as his warrant.
