At about 12:44am Saturday, Turlock Police Officer Mulhim made a traffic stop at E. F Street and S. Golden State Boulevard.

In addition to other violations, the vehicle was displaying a handwritten piece of paper formatted as a temporary license plate but a permanent license plate number on it.

Mulhim made contact with and attempted to identify the vehicle’s driver, but he refused to do so.

After checking local history, Mulhim was able to identify the driver as Hector Cruz, 42, of Turlock.

When Mulhim had his dispatcher run Cruz, he discovered he was suspended and had a $25,000 local misdemeanor bench warrant for driving under the influence of drugs, possession of methamphetamines, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cruz was arrested and a search incident to arrest led to the discovery of additional methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia.

Cruz was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of methamphetamines, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting a peace officer, and his warrant.
