On Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021, at 11:50 am, a Turlock Police officer in the 2800 block of Geer Rd, Turlock, attempted to stop a bicyclist, later identified as Joseph Yonan, 32, of Turlock, for his involvement in a possible burglary to a vehicle that had just occurred in the area a few minutes prior. When the officer activated his emergency lights and sounded his siren, Yonan did not stop and attempted to flee the officer on his bicycle.
Eventually, Yonan’s bicycle collided with the pushbar of an assisting officer’s vehicle and he was taken into custody without further incident.
An investigation into the possible burglary revealed that no burglary had actually occurred, however, after conducting a records check on Yonan, officers discovered that he had several warrants out for his arrest, one of which was for a felony.
Yonan was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of resisting a peace officer and his several warrants.
No injuries were reported as a result of the collision and the patrol vehicle sustained very minor damage that is unnoticeable unless specifically being looked for.
