Wakefield Elementary School sixth grade students Leonardo Gutierrez and Jaseon Harris were named this month’s Character Counts award recipients at the Oct. 1 Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees Meeting.
This month’s character theme is trustworthiness.
Both students worked hard last year in school and each scored a perfect 600 on the math portion of the California Star Test.
Leonardo is a student in Mrs. Piceno’s class and he lives with his proud parents Martin and Beatriz. He has two brothers, Andre, in second grade, and Adrian, who is three.
He enjoys playing soccer with his friends and playing video games when he is not hard at work studying for school. He would like to become a chemist when he grows up. He enjoys science and hopes that one day he will be the one to find the cure for cancer.
Jaseon is in Mr. Alanzo’s class and he lives with his mother Angelina Padilla. He has four brothers, including Jayden, who is in the fourth grade.
Jaseon’s grandpa and uncle are inspirations to him. His grandpa is a retired policeman from Alameda and his uncle is a lawyer. Jaseon would like to be a police officer when he grows up because he enjoys helping others.
