On Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, at 6:10 pm, the Turlock Fire Department was dispatched to a reported vegetation fire behind Sew Creative Upholstery, 1400 Lander Ave, Turlock.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a large vegetation fire spreading at a moderate rate of speed threatening several structures, so they upgraded the incident and brought in several additional units to assist, including two grass rigs and a brush rig from the Modesto Fire Department.

After a bit of firefighting, the fire was extinguished and contained to about 1.25 acres with no structures damaged.

The Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit and Turlock Police Department responded to handle the investigation. The Turlock Police Department classified the incident as an act of arson.

No injuries were reported.

The Modesto Fire Department provided city coverage for the duration of the incident.
