On Wednesday, October 19th, 2022, at 12:38 pm, a Turlock Police officer near a residence in the 600 block of Rockwood Ave, Turlock, recognized the man who had been involved in the DUI hit and run leaving a child injured on Monday, October 10th, 2022, at the intersection of Lander Ave and E Linwood Ave, so he got out with him knowing that he was wanted on the case.
James Hilton, 26, of Turlock, had been arrested the night of the incident, however, was released to be admitted into a local hospital. Shortly after his admission, he was discharged from the hospital.
Hilton was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater causing injury, hit and run causing injury, driving with a suspended driver’s license due to a DUI conviction, and failing to provide evidence of financial responsibility upon the demand of a peace officer while driving, as well as a warrant. The warrant was a $10,000 misdemeanor bench warrant out of Merced for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater, and driving with a suspended driver’s license due to a DUI conviction.
