The Turlock Fire Department is reporting that four vehicle occupants were injured and transported to the hospital following Tuesday morning’s big-rig accident on Main Street.
The Turlock Fire Department said that seven occupants in four vehicles were treated for injuries at the scene of the accident, and four of those seven were transported to the hospital.
The four vehicles is one more than was originally reported. A pickup was also struck when the driver of the big-rig was unable to stop at the West Main Street intersection after exiting southbound Highway 99. A white Cadillac sedan and green GMC Yukon were also involved in the accident.
Two of the transported occupants were treated for neck injuries, the other two were treated for unknown minor injuries. The severity of the neck injuries is unknown at this time.
At 7:28 a.m., a big-rig exited southbound Highway 99 at West Main Street, and was unable to stop before plowing through the intersection, striking three vehicles and making its way up the southbound Highway 99 onramp. California Highway Patrol Traffic reported that the big-rig’s brakes did not work.
CHP originally reported that some occupants were pinned in their vehicle at 7:30 a.m., but none required extraction according to a press release from Turlock Fire Department. Turlock fire reported that four occupants were trapped in two vehicles.
