At about 2:15pm Tuesday, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office responded to a drive-by shooting that had just occurred at Primo Market in the 800 block of S. First Street.
The caller reported someone in a sedan had just shot at people in a pickup truck, before both vehicles fled the area.
Deputies arrived on scene and confirmed there had been a shooting, as there were several shell casings at the scene.
A short time later, a victim arrived at Emanuel Medical Center with numerous gunshot wounds. He is believed to have been a passenger in the pickup.
A deputy responded to the hospital and contacted the victim, who was uncooperative and didn’t want to provide any information.
Through the investigation, the incident was determined to be gang-related and a suspect vehicle was identified.
Deputies located the suspect vehicle and detained two people, but haven’t decided yet if they’re going to make any arrests.
“The lack of cooperation has created a challenge moving forward,” said Sergeant Schwartz.
The investigation remains ongoing.
