On Sunday, July 30th, 2023, at 7:13 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported shoplifting that had just occurred at CVS Pharmacy, 3100 Geer Rd, Turlock, where paper towels had been stolen.
A responding officer located the suspect vehicle at Countryside Dr and W Monte Vista Avenue, so he made a traffic stop on it.
The officer made contact with and identified the vehicle’s driver as Raymond Unsicker, 33, of Denair.
When the officer had his dispatcher run Unsicker, he discovered that he had two $2,000 local misdemeanor warrants of arrest for theft.
The officer also at some point contacted the owner of the vehicle that Unsicker was in, Michael Brandenburg, 36, of Turlock.
When the officer had his dispatcher run Brandenburg, he discovered that he had two local bench warrants. The first was a $6,000 felony one for vehicle registration fraud and possession of a controlled substance, while the second was a $15,500 misdemeanor one for possession of methamphetamines.
It’s unknown if Unsicker or Brandenburg were ever connected to the shoplifting or if the stolen property was ever recovered, however, neither were charged with it.
Unsicker and Brandenburg were both arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on their warrants.
