On Friday, November 4th, 2022, at 2:25 am, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of Lander Ave and W Main St, Turlock, observed a vehicle using a rope and chain to illegally tow another vehicle, so he made a double traffic stop on them.

The officer made contact with both the vehicle’s drivers, later identified as Ivan Ramirez, 24, of Turlock, and Juan Gomez, 37, of Delhi.

When the officer asked the two to identify themselves, they both gave several different names several different times. The officer had his dispatcher run all the different names they gave but none of them came back to an actual DMV record.

Both were arrested.

A subsequent search of Gomez’s person incident to arrest led to the discovery of an identification card with his real name on it.

Both were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety, Ramirez on charges of driving without a valid driver’s license and Gomez on charges of driving without a valid driver’s license and falsely identifying to a peace officer.

After Ramirez’s fingerprints were taken, his true identity was discovered and it turned out that he had four misdemeanor bench warrants. The first one was a $10,000 one for obtaining and using personal identifying information of another person for an unlawful purpose and falsely identifying to a peace officer, the second one was a $25,000 for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater, and driving without a valid driver’s license, the third one was a $10,000 for driving under the influence of drugs, possession of methamphetamines, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving without a valid driver’s license, and the fourth one was a no bail one for falsely identifying to a peace officer.
