There are 4 Turlock Unified School District (TUSD) Board of Trustee seats is up for election on November 8, 2011, and 6 candidates vying for the positions. Frank M. Lima, Miguel A. TUSD had 5 Board seats up for election this year, 4 full term (four-year) seats and 1 short term (two-year) seat.
The candidate filing for the short term (two- year) seat and was closed on August 12th as Tami Harrill-Muniz, who was previously appointed to the TUSD Board, filed as an incumbent. Tami Muniz was unopposed for this seat and will therefore not appear on the ballot.
Tami Muniz was appointed to the TUSD Board on February 2, 2010, as a Provisional Board Appointment to fill the vacancy left by Lori Crivelli’s resignation shortly after being elected in November 2009. The Provisional Board Appointment runs through November 2011, when the regular election process will take place.
6 candidates will vie for 4 full term TUSD Trustee seats while 2 incumbents did not file for reelection.
Eileen Hamilton (Incumbent), Frank M. Lima (Incumbent), Andrew Johnson (Fund Development Specialist), Miguel A. Galvez (Real Estate Agent), and Harinder Grewal (Senior Inspector), and Grady L. Welch (Parole Agent) will appear on the ballot for the 4 four-year seats.
This will be the last year an at-large election will be held for TUSD Trustee positions. Beginning in 2013 Trustee positions will be elected by their specific districts mapped out throughout the TUSD.
TUSD Board Members currently do not receive any form of compensation for serving on the Board and they do not receive health benefits.
