101 years of beauty… and working for 101 more
Turlock Shines is a volunteer project with the goal of re-establishing small town community pride.
Timm LaVelle and Dana Vaughn organized the 1st Turlock Shines event in 2008 when about 200 volunteers helped clean up garbage around Turlock and sanded/resealed the Donnelly Play Park.
This year Turlock Councilwoman Mary Jackson is heading up the 2nd Annual Turlock Shines event. The event is focusing on helping seniors out with projects they may not be able to do, while also cleaning up around the city and refinishing the Donnelly Play Park.
Jackson said that they are organizing a citywide cleanup on October 3rd and are looking to include teams of volunteers from throughout the city.
Teams of 4-10 volunteers can still sign up until September 28, 2009.
People will be able to meet up at Donnelly Park at 8:00 to have a light breakfast, get their assigned projects, and take off from there.
