Turlock Police Rewarding Good Deeds with Slurpee Coupons

Eric Escalante

Good deeds might not go unnoticed for much longer. As part of partnership with 7-Eleven, Inc., Turlock Police Department will be rewarding the good deeds of Turlock kids with free Slurpee® drink coupons.

During this year’s summer months, 7-Eleven is helping thousands of local police officers recognize the “good guys,” and Turlock Police will be distributing free Slurpee® drink coupons as part of Operation Chill®, a popular community service program from 7-Eleven, Inc.

The program, as noted on the 7-Eleven corporate site, is designed to reduce crime and enhance relations between police and youth.

As part of the program, kids will be “ticketed” with a coupon for a small Slurpee drink as a reward for showing good behavior and performing acts of kindness. This might include, deterring crime, helping another person, or participating in a positive activity in the community.

In addition to encouraging good behavior, the program allows the opportunity for Turlock Police to establish a rapport with Turlock kids.

“We are always looking for ways to help our officers build strong relationships in the community,” said Michelle Backeroff, Crime Prevention Specialist. “Operation Chill makes it easy to interact with kids in a positive way. This is a great short and long-term investment for 7-Eleven and for us.”

Kids who received a coupon can take to their participating 7-Eleven stores to redeem for a small Slurpee drink.

"Turlock's officers are committed to not only solving crimes, but they are even more committed to honoring those citizens that choose to do the right thing," remarked Mayor Gary Soiseth.

"Our partnership with 7-Eleven is the latest example of Turlock's proactive strategy of preventing crime before it actually happens."
