Turlock Police Conduct Surprise Sex Offenders Compliance Check

The Turlock Police Department conducted compliance checks of those individuals who are required by California Penal Code 290, Also known as Sex Offender Registration Act, to register with the Law Enforcement Agency in the cities or counties in which they live.

 
The City of Turlock has 112 individuals who have registered as required by California Penal Code 290.
 
A surprise compliance check was completed during a two day operation in which 8 officers worked ten hour days in 2 man teams. A total of 102 registrant’s addresses were confirmed. Police also found 16 registrants to be out of compliance and criminal complaints filed and forwarded to the District Attorneys Office.
 
Additionally several individuals were listed as transients, which are individuals with no permanent home address. These persons must register every 30 days. The City of Turlock has 10 transient registrants of which 4 were out of compliance. A follow up check will be completed on these individuals to insure compliance and criminal complaints will be filed for non-compliance.
 
This operation took 100 man hours to prepare for and implement. The operation was extremely successful. The Turlock Police Department will continue to conduct unannounced compliance checks in order to insure that registrants are current regarding their addresses of record. This is critical to maintaining up to date information on the Megan’s Law website.
