A Turlock mother was arrested in Modesto on Sunday after she sold narcotics to an undercover officer, while her two children waited in the car.
Jennifer Wilkins, 33, of Turlock, had agreed to sell her prescription medication for money and additional opiate-based medication after being in contact with undercover officers of the Modesto Narcotic Enforcement Team.
When Wilkins arrived at the drug deal with the undercover officer, she had her 3- and 8-year-old children in the vehicle.
After making the deal, Wilkins was taken into custody without incident. She was arrested and booked into Stanislaus County Jail for attempted possession a controlled substance, sales of prescription medication, and felony child endangerment.
The children were taken into protective custody and then released to a family member.
“These are the types of cases that can really frustrate you,” said Sgt. Kelly Rea of MNET. “While we are glad to get a drug dealer off the street, we never want to see children exposed to this level of danger.”
This isn’t the first time MNET has dealt with a mother bringing her children to a drug deal. In March, MNET arrested a Modesto woman who not only brought her son 13-year-old son to a drug deal, but actually used him to complete the transaction.
