Turlock Home Depot Closing Rumor

Many anonymous contacts have asked TurlockCityNews.com if the Turlock Home Depot store is closing the doors and handing out pink slips.

As we are in a recession, many businesses have and will continue to be closing their doors. The Home Depot in Turlock is the latest rumored business to be closing.

The Home Depot spokesperson for the west, Kathryn Gallagher, made an official statement on behalf of the corporation and the Turlock store saying “That is just a rumor.”

Some emails and contacts were stating that the rumors employees were hearing were that their last day was as soon as January 10, 2009 and that WinCo Foods had bought their store’s building.

A WinCo Foods spokesperson was not available for comment at the time of this article. A person answering the phones did say unofficially that she did not see any planned openings in Turlock.

The City of Turlock Planning department has not received any documentation that would show evidence of a Turlock WinCo Foods store opening.

The Turlock Home Depot employees and customers can rest assured their jobs and shopping options in Turlock are going to continue. Gallagher said “We’re not planning on closing the Turlock store or any store.”

The Ceres store was also rumored to be closing, and again not the case.

The Home Depot corporation did announce in a May 1, 2008 press release that they would be closing 15 stores that were underperforming. Neither Turlock nor any other store in California was on the list of stores to be closed down. Those stores listed were:
