Today, Sunday September 16th, from 1pm to 4pm, 10-year-old Turlock resident McKenzie Bronken will be holding a lemonade stand fundraiser in which 100% of the proceeds will go to the JDRF organization in efforts to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
McKenzie, who has Type 1 Diabetes, will be participating as a team captain in the 2012 Sacramento Walk to Cure Diabetes, on October 7th. The two-mile walk begins at the California State Capitol and begins at 9am.
Founded in 1970, JDRF’s mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. McKenzie’s proceeds from the lemonade stand, which was her idea, will be going towards the research done by JDRF. JDRF is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Since its founding, JDRF has awarded more than $1.6 billion to diabetes research.
