On Thursday, December 8th, 2022, at 11:29 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported trespass in progress at Staples, 1850 Countryside Dr, Turlock, after a man had refused to leave the property after being told to do so by a security guard.
While officers were responding, they received information that the suspect had gotten into and taken off with the security guard’s vehicle.
Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the security guard, who told them that he had noticed the suspect starting a small warming fire in a flower bed near the business, so he had made contact with him to tell him to put it out and leave the property. The suspect refused and the security guard went to go get a fire extinguisher. As the security guard returned and began putting the fire out, the suspect got into the security guard’s vehicle and took off in it.
Officers checked the area for the vehicle, however, were unable to locate it.
The vehicle is a brown 2012 Chevrolet Malibu with security markings on its sides and a flashing yellow light on its roof. If you see it, immediately call 9-1-1.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic man, standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, black jacket, black pants, and black boots. He also had a handbag with him.
The investigation remains ongoing, anyone with information that could assist in it is encouraged to call Officer Edgar Meraz at 209-668-6559.
