At about 10:57pm, Turlock Police, Turlock Fire, and AMR responded to a sick person in the 1000 block of N. Golden State Boulevard who was possibly overdosing.

Officers were the first to arrive on scene and found a man matching the description, however, he was alert and conscious, stating that he wasn’t overdosing.

The business owner then came outside and requested that Officers trespass admonish the man from his property. He’s been having issues with transients sleeping on his property and has had to call the Police several times, despite no trespass signs being posted.

Firefighters and paramedics arrived on scene and evaluated the man. They determined there wasn’t anything medically wrong with him that required him to be transported to the hospital.

When Officers identified the man and ran him, they discovered a misdemeanor warrant for possession of a controlled substance and possession of methamphetamines, as well as an infraction warrant for a Turlock Municipal Code violation.

Both warrants were “OR revoked”, meaning that the man couldn’t be cited out on his own recognizance and had to be booked into the jail.

The man was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on his warrants.

He was also admonished that if he returns to the property again, the owner could sign a citizen’s arrest for trespassing.

While we’re on the topic of trespassing, did you know that you can make members of the Turlock Police Department agents of your property and authorize them to arrest trespassers on your behalf?

This is extremely helpful and convenient because if a Police Officer currently finds a trespasser on your property and you haven’t filed a 602 form, you would have to respond out and sign a citizen’s arrest for the Police to be able to do anything – which could also be a liability for you.

Making members of the Turlock Police Department agents of your property saves you from being inconvenienced and also takes the liability of a citizen’s arrest off of you – while also helping to address Turlock’s growing issues with homeless, transients, vagrants, and related crimes.
