On Monday, July 11th, 2022, at 1:59 am, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of Geer Rd and North Ave, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.
When the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed what he believed to be a firearm, so he asked for additional units. Four subjects in the vehicle were ultimately detained in handcuffs for further investigation, which included the driver, a 17 year old male of Livingston, and a passenger, Angel Costumbre, 19, of Modesto.
During the course of the investigation, officers discovered that what they had originally believed to be a firearm was a BB gun. They also discovered that the juvenile driver did not have a valid driver’s license, Costumbre had a felony no-bail warrant out of Modesto for joyriding, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of stolen property, and that there was alcohol in the vehicle with no one over 21 present.
The juvenile driver was arrested and released on a citation on charges of driving without a valid driver’s license.
Costumbre was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of alcohol in a public place by a person under 21 years of age and his warrant.
