The ongoing drought continues to affect local farmers, starved for irrigation water this summer.
But industry experts will be on hand to help at an upcoming free “Farming in a Drought” seminar, thanks to the Turlock and Modesto irrigation districts.
The seminar will feature Milton O’Haire, Stanislaus County Agriculture Commissioner, Roger Duncan, Pomology and Viticulture Advisor with the University of California Cooperative Extension, and Diana Waller, District Conservationist with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. Each will each speak on topics ranging from farming in dry conditions to technical and financial assistance, and will then be available for questions.
The seminar will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 29 at Harvest Hall, 3800 Cornucopia Way, Modesto.
