With summer on the brink and the weather getting warmer with each passing day, residents of the Central Valley will quickly be seeking out various tactics to keep cool during the hot summer months. For those residents in Stanislaus County who do not own a private pool, community pools have always been a viable option during the summer.
Although canals and rivers may be alluring for a quick cool down, many local irrigation districts have long promoted the dangers of swimming in such areas. Turlock Irrigation District (TID) wants to continue to develop an overall awareness that canals are not for swimming and rivers can be dangerous.
In an effort to encourage children and teenagers that there are safer options for swimming and cooling off, TID is excited to announce its annual Pool Pass Program has begun. TID is partnering with many of the region’s community pools to allow free admittance to children ages 17 and under who have a valid TID 2012 Pool Pass.
Pool Passes are complimentary and are currently available at TID offices in Turlock, Ceres, or Patterson, in addition to most of the participating pools. Children must be accompanied by an adult to receive a pass. Each pass will admit one child, age 17 or under, to one of the participating community pools during one open swim period.
