Three men from Turlock were arrested in Sonoma early Wednesday morning after pointing a gun at a woman and demanding her purse.
According to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was walking into the Sonoma Lucky’s store in Maxwell Village at approximately 4 a.m. when a pick-up truck drove up to her in the parking lot.
The driver of the truck, wearing a black hoodie and a black ski-mask over his face, got out of the truck and pointed a black pistol at the woman while demanding her purse. The woman complied with the driver, handing him her lunch bag. The suspect then entered the truck vehicle and fled the scene.
A broadcast describing the suspect’s truck was sent out to surrounding agencies. At approximately 4:30 a.m., American Canyon Police and the Napa County Sheriff’s Office reported that they had stopped a pick-up matching the described vehicle near the Chardonnay Golf Club on Jameson Canyon Road.
Police officers detained the three men in the vehicle after finding two replica Smith & Wesson BB pistols, the woman’s lunch bag, and a black ski mask in the cab of the pickup. The driver, Mark Padilla, 20 of Turlock, was positively identified as being the primary suspect in the robbery. Padilla was arrested for robbery and possessing stolen property.
The passengers, Edgar Gonzalez and Jesus Vazquez, both 19 of Turlock, were arrested for possession of stolen property.
The three men were booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
