At about 8:49pm Sunday, Turlock Police Officer Marquez made a traffic stop in the 600 block of Park Street.

Marquez made contact with and identified the vehicle’s four occupants, including passenger Kayden Stanfield, 18, of Ceres. Additionally, the vehicle’s driver was a 16-year-old White boy of Turlock, and one of the other passengers was a 16-year-old Hispanic boy of Keyes. The 16-year-old of Keyes falsely identified himself to Marquez, but he already knew who he really was.

When Marquez had his dispatcher run the four, he discovered the driver was unlicensed, and the 16-year-old of Keyes had a warrant and was on juvenile probation. Additionally, as part of his probation terms, he was to stay away from an additional occupant of the vehicle who was also on juvenile probation.

During a subsequent search, Marquez located an excessive amount of marijuana.

Marquez asked if a sheriff’s deputy with a canine could assist with locating any possible additional contraband, so Deputy Garcia and K9 Renzo responded.

Renzo didn’t alert on the vehicle for any additional contraband.

Stanfield, the 16-year-old Turlock, and the 16-year-old of Keyes were all arrested. Stanfield was released on a citation for possession of more than 28.5 grams of cannabis, the 16-year-old of Turlock was released on a citation for driving without a valid license, and the 16-year-old of Keyes was booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on charges of falsely identifying to a peace officer and his warrant.
