A total of three vehicle occupants were injured and transported to local medical centers in Wednesday evening’s accident that closed a portion of Golden State Boulevard.
Shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a Honda sedan ran a red light at the intersection of Geer Road and Golden State Boulevard and broadsided a vehicle making a left-hand turn.
The Honda was traveling northbound on Golden State Boulevard when it collided with a Pontiac Vibe making a left turn from Geer Road onto southbound Golden State Boulevard.
Turlock police and fire crews were called to the scene and Golden State Boulevard was closed between Geer Road and Canal Drive while the scene was cleaned up.
Fire crews had to extricate the driver of the Pontiac using the jaws of life to spread open the door, said Turlock Fire Battalion Chief Bill Becker.
Both occupants of the Pontiac and the driver of the Honda were all transported to area medical centers for treatment.
