Three Arrested in Locust Shootings

At about 3:04pm Thursday, Turlock Police arrived at a residence in Mountain View to conduct follow-up in an assault with a firearm investigation.

With the assistance of Mountain View Police, a search warrant was served where Edgar Mendoza, 19, of Mountain View, was arrested.

Mendoza was suspected of being responsible for the shooting that occurred on Monday, July 22, at Locust Street and Castor Street, which left a 19-year-old with a non-life-threatening injury to his lower right leg. Two additional victims were shot at but not hit or injured in any way.

Mendoza was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of attempted murder and assault with a firearm.

On Wednesday, August 21, Turlock Police arrived at a residence in the 600 block of Chestnut Street and another residence in Winton to conduct follow-up in another assault with a firearm investigation related to the first one.

With the assistance of Ceres Police and Merced County Sheriff’s, two juveniles were arrested.

The two juveniles were suspected of being responsible for the shooting that occurred on Sunday, July 28, at a residence in the 400 block of Locust Street, which left a 17-year-old with a non-life-threatening injury to his hand.

The juveniles were booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall, one on charges of conspiracy, possession of a handgun by a minor, and possession of ammunition by a minor, and the other on the charge of attempted murder.

Firearms located at one of the residences were seized and booked as evidence.

According to Sergeant Inderbitzen, both shootings involved victims who are known to each other.

“The Turlock Police Department appreciates the support from the Mountain View Police Department, Merced County Sheriff’s Office, Merced County Probation, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit, and Ceres Police Department,” said Public Affairs Analyst Sanchez. “Our law enforcement partnerships strengthen our ability to make our communities safer.”
