At about 10:54pm Monday, Turlock Police responded to a battery in progress at Paul’s Food Mart in the 1200 block of Geer Road.

It was reported that a few people were involved in the fight, and one was trying to use a garden hoe to break a window.

By the time officers arrived on scene, the involved parties had already left the scene.

While on an unrelated traffic stop nearby, two officers were approached by the victim, a 19-year-old woman from Delhi.

The victim was hyperventilating, so American Medical Response was requested.

Through the investigation, it was determined that the victim had started to run away from the fight when she was approached by an unknown man who offered to help her get away. The man then grabbed the victim and put her in the passenger seat of his truck. The victim told the man that she didn’t want to go with him, as he began to drive away with her.

The man then got out of his truck and went around to the passenger side, where he began to grope the victim under her clothes and kiss her. That’s when the victim was able to push the man away and run away toward the officers on the traffic stop.

The victim had injuries from both incidents which were unrelated, and it appeared the man was trying to take advantage of the situation the victim is in.

The victim refused to be transported to the hospital and was taken by her boyfriend who responded to the scene.

The suspect has yet to be identified and no witnesses were located. The suspect was described to be an Indian male, 5’ 9” – 5’ 10” tall, with a beard. He was reportedly in a white tow truck.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist is encouraged to call Officer Rios at 209-668-1200.
