At about 12:40pm Monday, Turlock Police, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded to an aggravated assault that had just occurred at a residence in the 400 block of Locust Street.
The caller reported a drive-by shooting had just occurred and a victim who’d been shot was lying on the ground.
Officers arrived on scene and provided medical aid to a 19-year-old Hispanic male of Turlock until being relieved by medics. He was transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury to his lower right leg.
Two additional victims were shot at but not hit or injured in any way.
Officers remained on scene, gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses.
At least four shell casings were located at the scene, which turned out actually to be at Locust Street and Castor Street. The group of three victims had been walking in the church parking lot on the corner when the shooter opened fire at them from a vehicle at the intersection.
The suspect vehicle was described as a black or dark-colored SUV, possibly a Jeep Cherokee.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his late teens or early twenties with a long brown ponytail, black shirt, and black jeans. He is believed to be the vehicle’s only occupant.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist is encouraged to call Officer Anthieny at 209-668-1200.
