Turlock's Carnegie Arts Center will host a free lecture discussing sustainable homes and cities on April 14.
Guest speaker David Burton, an architect, will exploring aspects of sustainable design by examining example residential projects throughout California.
The presentation will largely draw from Barton's own experiences as an architect, the Vice President of the Alameda Planning Board, and a community activist for carbon emissions reductions. Burton has over twenty years of experience in historic preservation, sustainable design, and designing single-family residences, multi-family residential complexes, office and retail space, and churches.
Burton has received numerous awards over the years, and his work has been featured in various publications. Working in the area of sustainable design, he has received wide acclaim and continues to present lectures all over the state.
Based in Berkeley, Burton's firm Burton Architecture is guided by his beliefs in stewardship of the planet and the responsibility to build community through sustainable work. Burton's work incorporates aspects of energy and resource efficiency while insuring a healthy environment for all community members.
The lecture “Sustainable Design: Lessons Learned in the Home and Around Town” will be held at 2 p.m. April 14 at the Carnegie Arts Center. All Sunday lectures at the Carnegie Arts Center are free and open to the public. The Carnegie Arts Center is located at 250 N. Broadway in Turlock.
