Turlock police arrested a man possessing a stolen firearm on May 25, after he was involved in a verbal disturbance.
A Turlock police officer conducting a routine patrol observed a large group engaged in a verbal disturbance at 9:08 a.m. in the 200 block of North Golden State Boulevard.
The disturbance was allegedly being caused by two drivers, with one driving recklessly in a parking lot, Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis said.
The office approached the vehicle, and one of its occupants told the officer that someone in the other vehicle had a handgun, said Lewis.
Officers made contact with the other party and searched their vehicle, allegedly locating a stolen handgun.
Jesse Ortega, 27, was arrested and booked for possession of a concealed weapon, possession of a loaded weapon, possession of stolen property, and an outstanding warrant for DUI.
