Turlock police arrested a male subject early on Tuesday believed to have broken through a wall to enter a local business.

On Tuesday at approximately 1:50 a.m., Turlock police responded to a break in on the 800 block of W. Hawkeye Avenue. When officers arrived, they were unable to locate a suspect.

During the course of investigation, Turlock police determined that the suspect had made entry into a parcel by breaking open a realtor lock box, said Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

The suspect then broke a hole in the sheetrock to make entry into the adjacent business, a Farmers Insurance, said Lewis.

While the suspect had fled prior to officers’ arrival, Turlock police were able to locate drops of blood, as well as a shoeprint at the scene, said Lewis.

Officers located a subject, later identified as John Neal, 48, in a vacant field near the business. Neal appeared to have fresh injuries and was covered in white dust, both consistent with the crime scene said Lewis.

Additionally, Neal was wearing shoes consistent with the shoeprint left at the scene.

Neal was arrested and booked for burglary and vandalism.
