Get those mugs ready, beer aficionados.
Turlock's 10 East Kitchen & Tap House is partnering with the legendary Stone Brewing Co. to hold a Total Tap Takeover on Wednesday, devoting all 18 taps to showcase Stone's extensive catalog of award-wining beers.
“A lot of the beer is going to be stuff they haven't even made in a couple of years, that has just sat in their archives,” 10 East co-owner Derek Walker said.
Beers on offer will range from classics like Stone's India Pale Ale and Arrogant Bastard Ale to more obscure selections, like an espresso Russian Imperial Stout, a double dry-hopped Ruination IPA, and several Vertical Epic Ales – a yearly series of small batch ales with different recipes, each produced only once. Some of the brews are essentially impossible to find outside of the San Diego area.
Representatives from Stone Brewing will be on hand for the event including, potentially, Stone's master brewer.
“We're really hoping he is here,” Walker said.
Considered one of the best breweries in the world, Escondido-based Stone Brewing Co. has been voted the “All-time Top Brewery on Planet Earth” by readers of Beer Advocate, two years in a row. From humble beginnings selling 400 barrels of beer in 1996, the brewery projects to sell 210,200 bbls in 2013.
T-shirts have been made in honor of the event. And the restaurant will feature a special menu on Wednesday, pairing new dishes with Stone's brews.
“We truly set out to do something that our guests wouldn't normally find anywhere but in the Bay Area, and we really want to showcase that with this event,” Walker said. “We have people coming from the Bay Area to come here for this event! Now, that's saying something.”
The Stone Brewing Co. Total Tap Takeover will run from 11 a.m. to 12 midnight on Wednesday at 10 East Kitchen & Tap House, 10 E. Main St., Turlock.
No reservations will be taken for the event, and some beers are so rare they may not last through the lunch hour.
