Stanislaus County Chief Executive Office has released the County’s more than $1 billion proposed budget recommendation for the 2015-16 fiscal year.

If approved, the recommended proposed budget would serve as an interim spending plan for Stanislaus County until a final budget for 2015-16 is approved in September.

The proposed budget of $1,081,877 reflects an approximately 1 percent decrease of all funds from the 2014-15 budget, according to a press release. The general fund budget, which is proposed at $264,685,156, has been cut by approximately $6.4 million from last fiscal year.

"We are encouraged by the improvement in our local economy but continue to maintain a fiscally conservative approach with a focus on rebuilding critical core services in a sustainable manner," said Stanislaus County Chief Executive Officer Stan Risen. "Last year was a turning point for our organization as we started to move forward with a four-year public safety restoration plan, launched a promising new initiative focused on improving the quality of life for all our residents through a focus on prevention, and continued to take a very proactive approach to addressing our groundwater challenges."

The Stanislaus County 2015-16 recommended proposed budget is available for public review right now. It can been reviewed online at StanislausCounty.com/Budget, at the Board of Supervisors Office of the County of Stanislaus at 1010 10th Street, Suite 6500 in Modesto, or at any of the 13 public libraries in Stanislaus County.

Before the budget can be approved, the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing at 9:05 a.m. June 9 in the basement Board Chambers at 1010 Tenth St. in Modesto. If necessary, the public hearing will continue on June 10 and 11 at 9 a.m.
