After more than 30 years in the fair industry, Chief Executive Officer of the Stanislaus County Fair Chris Borovansky has announced his retirement.
“The fair industry has been my life and I am extremely proud to be ending my career at the Stanislaus County Fair,” said Borovansky in a news release.
Borovansky will continue his role as CEO until his replacement is hired and is also taking a lead role in assisting the Stanislaus County Fair’s Board of Directors in a transition plan for a new CEO.
The Board of Directors will conduct an extensive industry-wide search for a new CEO, with the goal of finding Borovansky’s replacement by late-June.
“We have flourished under Chris’s direction and we are sad to see him go,” said Ray Souza, president of the Stanislaus County Fair Board of Directors.
Borovansky has served as CEO of the Stanislaus County Fair since April 2010. Under his leadership, the fair has achieved financial solvency, despite the elimination of state funding. He also took the lead in acquiring a strong sponsorship base that can support the fair in the future and led the creation of the Friends of the Fair Foundation.
Before the Stanislaus County Fair, Borovansky was the CEO of the Jackson County Fair in Central Point, Oregon for 21 years and was Sonoma County Fair manager for seven years. Borovansky grew up in the fair industry and worked at the California State Fair as a teenager for many years.
Currently, Borovansky serves as a member of the Turlock Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee and is active in coaching youth sports.
