On Monday, September 7th, 2020, shortly before 2:50 pm, the Turlock Fire Department received a call of a working structure fire at the Magic Sands Mobile Home Park in the 1200 block of Magic Sands Way. The Turlock Fire Department responded with Battalion 4, Engine 31, Squad 32, Engine 33, Engine 34, and Fire 12. The Turlock Police Department was already on scene on an unrelated call at the complex when the fire broke out. Officers worked on evacuating residents while the fire department was responding.
Squad 32 and Fire 12 both arrived on scene at approximately 2:45 pm. Fire 12 assumed Magic Sands command and reported smoke coming from a trailer with citizens trying to put it out. Squad 32 then began fire attack in the offensive strategy. Shortly after, other units began arriving on scene, including Battalion 4, who took command from Fire 12. Crews, with the assistance of citizens, were able to control the fire and extinguish it shortly thereafter within 15 of arriving on scene.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and is under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this fire is encouraged to contact Fire Marshal Mark Gomez at 209-669-2119 or by email at MGomez@turlock.ca.us.
