At about 12:36am Saturday morning, Turlock Police responded to a reported weapon offense that had just occurred at Pioneer Avenue and E. Main Street, where a gun had possibly been fired after some sort of road rage incident.
The victim followed the suspect vehicle to W. Main Street and Lander Avenue, providing officers with location updates. Officers arrived in the area and observed the suspect vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Lander Avenue.
As the suspect vehicle approached the freeway, its driver lost control of it on the northbound on-ramp and was involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer combo.
The suspect vehicle’s driver, a male juvenile, leg bailed southbound on Lander Avenue, while his two female juvenile passengers stayed behind.
Officers set up a perimeter and began checking the area, primarily focusing their attention on the Travelodge. The sheriff’s helicopter and a sheriff’s canine also responded to assist in the search efforts.
After about an hour, the perimeter was broken down as officers were unable to locate the suspect.
Through the investigation, the suspect was able to be identified.
The two passengers in the suspect vehicle were uninjured and released to their parent, while the driver of the tractor-trailer combo was also injured.
The suspect vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed away from the scene, while the tractor-trailer combo didn’t sustain any noticeable damage.
