At about 11:27pm Wednesday night, Officer Kauffman got out with a suspicious person in front of Ace Hardware in the 3000 block of Geer Road.
Kauffman made contact with and identified the man as Angel Zamora, 45, of Denair.
When Kauffman had his dispatcher run Zamora, he discovered that he was a sex offender who was in compliance with the terms of his registration, on parole for possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, and on searchable probation for possession of methamphetamines.
During a subsequent parole search of Zamora’s person, Kauffman located methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia.
When questioned, Zamora stated that he had found the narcotics and picked them up so that kids wouldn’t pick them up. Zamora also stated that he no longer uses, however, had previously mentioned during the encounter that he had used two days ago. He also didn’t have a valid reason as to why he hadn’t discarded them in the trash can he had been standing right next to.
Being that Zamora is a sex offender, most misdemeanor narcotics charges are felonies for him, including possession of methamphetamines.
Zamora was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of methamphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia.
