Seven Displaced and Two Cats Dead After House Fire

At about 6:01am Friday, Turlock Fire, Modesto Fire, Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit, Turlock Police, and American Medical Response responded to a working structure fire at a residence in the 400 block of Crane Avenue.

When units arrived on scene, they found heavy fire conditions from the front of the single-story single-family dwelling, extending into the attic.

Firefighters immediately began fire attack in the defensive strategy, and then switched to the offensive strategy shortly later. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes.

Crews remained on scene for an extended period of time conducting investigation, overhaul, salvage, and other post-fire activities.

The Turlock Irrigation District and Pacific Gas and Electric Company also responded to the scene to secure utilities, while Modesto Fire provided city coverage for the duration of the incident.

No human injuries were reported, but unfortunately two cats died in the fire.

Six occupants were displaced as a result of the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
