A second brush fire at the Highway 99/Monte Vista Avenue Interchange this week briefly closed all three lanes of Highway 99 and an off-ramp on Wednesday afternoon.
The fire was first reported to the California Highway Patrol at 4:24 p.m. CHP, the Turlock Police Department, and the Turlock Fire Department responded to the scene before putting the fire out by 4:55 p.m.
Due to heavy smoke in the area, all three lanes of northbound Highway 99 before Monte Vista Avenue were briefly closed around 4:31 p.m. The northbound off-ramp at Monte Vista Avenue was also closed until the blaze was extinguished.
Highway 99 has since been cleared.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
