This morning around 9:30am the Turlock Police Department was notified of a possible sinkhole on West Tuolumne Avenue, between the intersections of North Tully Road and North Golden State Boulevard.
City workers arrived on scene and discovered a large underground sinkhole that appeared to be related to a ruptured sewer line that runs under the eastbound lanes of West Tuolumne Avenue.
Other than the underground damage, no injuries or additional damage has been reported. There is no known threat to the community or the residents in the area.
As of now, the road has been closed to assess the damage and prevent any injury resulting from travel on the roadway.
As this is the early stages of assessing the damage, we do not have an estimate on when the repairs will be completed. At this time, please use Fulkerth Road or West Monte Vista Avenue as an alternate route of travel.
