On Wednesday, June 14th, 2023, at 10:29 pm, a Turlock Police officer near Smoke Depot, 500 Lander Ave, Turlock, observed a man who he recognized and knew didn’t have a valid driver’s license pull into the business, park in a handicap spot, and go inside, so he got out with his vehicle and waited for him to come back outside.
As the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed packaged marijuana inside of it and knew that the man, David Gallo, 21, of Turlock, had been arrested for marijuana sales several times in the past.
When Gallo exited the business, he was detained in handcuffs for the investigation.
Officer Brett Conrad responded to the scene along with his new partner, Canine Bjorn. Conrad had Bjorn perform a sniff of the vehicle and he alerted, giving probable cause for a search. Regardless of this, Gallo also consented to a search.
During the search, officers located evidence of marijuana sales. Gallo also made incriminating statements that indicated he was still involved in the selling of marijuana.
Gallo was arrested and released on a citation on the charge of possession of cannabis for sale. His vehicle was also impounded.
