Police Update Description of Suspect in Hit and Run of Toddler

The Turlock Police Department has issued a release updating the description of the suspect wanted for striking a toddler in the roadway on Lambert Way Friday evening and fleeing the scene.

The suspect in the hit and run is now described as a Hispanic male juvenile or young adult, approximately 16 to 19 years old, standing approximately 5 feet 10 inches with an average build. He was driving a 2000 gray Ford Focus four-door sedan or possibly a gray Honda four-door sedan.

At approximately 5:11 p.m., the driver struck a toddler in the roadway on Lambert Way near North Soderquist Road.

Following the collision, the suspect stopped briefly at the scene then returned to his vehicle and fled the scene, reports the Turlock Police Department.

The child was “severely injured,” reports the Turlock Police Department. The child was medi-flighted from the scene, however was said to be in stable condition Friday night, according to Turlock police spokesperson Sgt. Jesse Bawcum.

The Turlock Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver and locating the vehicle. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Turlock Police Detective Brandon Bertram via the Turlock Police Department Dispatch, 209-668-1200.
