Turlock police are looking for a male suspect wanted for allegedly grabbing a female and attempting to steal her bag late Thursday night.

The suspect is described as a bald Hispanic male and was wearing a black shirt and grey or silver shorts at the time of the incident.

At approximately 11 p.m., the Turlock Police Department received a report from a female victim who was nearly robbed.

According to Turlock police spokesperson Lt. Miguel Pacheco, the victim was walking east on Monte Vista Avenue when she was approached from behind by a male suspect.

The suspect allegedly grabbed the victim and made reference of taking her back to his car, but the victim didn’t notice a vehicle, said Pacheco.

After allegedly taking hold of the victim, the suspect grabbed the victim’s purse, but she was able to fight him off and get her purse, said Pacheco. She immediately reported the incident to police.

At this time, the suspect fled on foot.

Police searched the area for the suspect, but only found two men who matched the description, but were determined to have not been involved in the incident, said Pacheco.
