Turlock police have arrested the woman suspected of stealing a donation box from a Turlock 7-11 last week.
Gwen Gregg, 36, was arrested for the crime following a routine traffic stop. She was booked for commercial burglary.
Gregg allegedly stole the donation box on April 9 from the 7-11 near the corner of Monte Vista Avenue and Tegner Road. The box contained $50, which was intended to send a boy with autism to camp.
Turlock police had been diligently trying to identify the suspect since the night of the incident, said Turlock Police Department spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.
After more than a week of searching for the suspect, Gregg was arrested on Friday after an officer pulled her over on a routine traffic stop at U.S. Cold Storage, 537 Frasil Lane, Lewis said.
The officer believed that Gregg fit the description of the suspect, Lewis said. When questioned, Gregg turned herself in.
Lewis said the Turlock Police Department’s continued work to identify and apprehend the suspect forced her to turn herself in.
