On Tuesday, July 7th, 2020, at approximately 1:20 am, Turlock Police received a call from Union Pacific advising that one of their trains had hit a pedestrian in the downtown area. Police, fire, and medical units rushed to the scene. Around 1:25 am, a police officer located a victim and confirmed that obvious signs of death were present.
The woman killed has been identified as Rayleen Ray, 37. The train engineer had seen Ray sitting on the tracks and trying to move off of them just prior to the collision.
