On Saturday, February 11th, 2023, at 9:08 am, a Turlock Police officer near 319 S Tully Rd, Turlock, noticed and recognized a parolee which he knew to be wanted in a carjacking case, so he got out with him.
The officer held Dix Herbert, 54, of Livingston, at gunpoint and eventually detained him without incident.
The officer had his dispatcher run Herbert and it was confirmed that he was still wanted for the carjacking. He also had two bench warrants out of Merced County, the first one was a no-bail one for violation of parole and the second one was a $5,000 one for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamines.
The officer then called Herbert’s parole agent and reported to him what had occurred. The agent found that there was probable cause a violation of parole had occurred, so he authorized that Herbert be placed on a hold while awaiting a parole revocation hearing.
The carjacking that Herbert was wanted for had occurred on Wednesday, December 25th, 2022, in the 1900 block of Noble Ln. The person who was carjacked knew Herbert which is how he was identified.
Herbert was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of violation of parole, robbery, and driving or taking a vehicle without the consent of its owner, as well as his warrants.
